Aperol in March
The opening verses written in Serbian “znaću da je vreme da se zauvek ode tek kada uz svaki Aperol sa Prosekom poželim i čašu visoke vode.” (“I will know that it is the time to leave forever only when with every Aperol and Prosecco I wish for a glass of acqua alta.”) is a metaphor that says the author is not yet ready for certain changes in his life. The closing verse “There is something in the water that saved us from the plague, from ourselves.” sends a strong message that the true hardship of the Venetian lifestyle is the main factor that forged and preserved their national and cultural identity.
